Attorney General Merrick Garland said Thursday that the Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a motion to unseal the search warrant relating to former President Donald Trump’s Florida property.
The FBI executed a search warrant Monday at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home. The incident sparked a flurry of reactions from both sides of the aisle, but the DOJ remained silent for days afterwards.
Garland declined to provide further details of the search, but noted that he “personally approved the decision to seek” the warrant. He also decried “recent unfounded attacks on the professionalism of the FBI and Justice Department agents and prosecutors,” declaring he would “not stand by silently.”
