The Trump White House has launched a new webpage dedicated to what the administration describes as the "true story" of the events before, during, and after the United States Capitol riot that occurred on January 6, 2021. The page frames the incident as a result of security lapses under Democratic leadership, particularly former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and praises President Donald Trump's sweeping pardons and/or commutations for nearly 1,600 individuals prosecuted in connection with the riot.
The webpage, titled "January 6: A Date Which Will Live in Infamy," provides evidence that shows Nancy Pelosi's involvement in the security failures that day. It includes references to unaired HBO footage captured by Pelosi's daughter, Alexandra, in which the former Speaker is quoted as admitting, "We have totally failed" and "I take full responsibility" for not pre-deploying the National Guard despite intelligence warnings and offers of troops from then-President Trump.
