Get the latest news from the Trump administration and national politics Monday as scandal-scarred Maine Senate hopeful Graham Platner was accused of raping his ex Jenny Racicot nearly five years ago.

Dems from across the country, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairwoman Kirsten Gillibrand and Rep. Ro Khanna, one of Platner’s most ardent supporters, and the Maine Democratic Party, called on the former oyster farmer to end his Senate bid amid the disturbing allegation — describing it as “credible.”

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who endorsed Platner and once described him as “My kind of man,” also said the candidate should “step aside.”

Platner has a July 13 deadline to drop out of the race for Democrats to easily replace him on the ballot to face GOP Sen. Susan Collins in November — in a state that is key to control of the Senate.
