House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings staged a hearing about Donald Trump supposedly "obstructing justice."
The White House asserted executive privilege over former White House counsel Don McGhan's testimony after his testimony formed the focal point of the obstruction of justice volume of the Mueller report, so Cummings needed a new star witness.
Cummings's was left scrambling, and the best he could do was disgraced former Nixon White House counsel John Dean – who went to jail for obstruction of justice in the Watergate scandal over 40 years ago.
Ever since Dean has made a career out of claiming every Republican President is engaged in scandal worse than Watergate and must be impeached.
That earned Dean a contract with CNN where he hyperventilates on the air and fabricates criminal allegations about President Trump.
Trey Gowdy went on Sean Hannity's Fox News show and called Dean as an "expert" witness out for the farce that it was.
"If you as the chairman of oversight had called on someone like John Dean, who is not a fact witness or a legal expert, about the best he can give you is a day in the life in federal prison. That is the best he can give you, you would be excoriated," Gowdy stated.
John Dean adds nothing.
Dean was not on the Trump campaign or in the White House, so he adds no insight into these matters.
But what Democrats wanted was a televised spectacle of a confessed Watergate criminal detailing how Donald Trump was engaged in illegal activity
above and beyond anything Richard Nixon ever stood accused of.
Trey Gowdy crushed those plans with his brutally honest truth.
