Nancy Pelosi thought she had a sure thing.
The Speaker planned out what she figured was the perfect scenario to take down Donald Trump.
But Nancy Pelosi was left shaking her head in disbelief when she saw the results of this poll.
For the last several months, Pelosi pleaded with Democrats to hold their fire on impeachment and wait for the results of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.
Pelosi and her leadership team were counting on the fact that Robert Mueller’s bipartisan credibility would provide the cover for Democrats to move on impeachment once Mueller turned in his final report which everyone figured would convict Trump all sorts of damning crimes.
But Mueller failed.
The special counsel’s final report cleared admitted there was no evidence on Russian collusion and did not announce charges against the President for obstruction of justice.
Those findings dashed any chance to build public support behind a partisan impeachment proceeding.
A brand new ABC/Washington Post poll found record-low support for impeachment in the wake of the Attorney General William Barr making the Mueller report’s conclusions public.
Breitbart reports:
A new poll shows support for impeaching President Donald Trump has sunk to a new low following the release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on now-debunk collusion between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russia.
According to an ABC News/Washington Post national survey released Friday, support for impeachment dropped to 37, down from 40 percent in January. Support of the president’s ouster hit a survey high of 49 percent in August. Support rose for the measure to 62 percent among Democrats, yet tumbled 36 percent with independents. Only 10 percent of Republicans support it.
Mueller reporting no evidence of Russian collusion was the turning point for the American people to reject the idea of impeachment.
Democrats and some members of the liberal media pushed to shift the goalposts on removing President Trump from office to obstruction of justice.
But this entire ordeal began with accusations then-candidate Donald Trump and his campaign engaged in treasonous collusion with the Russians.
When that was exposed a hoax, the American people closed the book on impeachment.
