Americans were horrified to learn that federal agents arrested billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein in New York on charges he engaged in sex trafficking with underage girls.
Epstein was a close confidant of former President Bill Clinton, and the two traveled together.
Clinton spokeswoman Angel Urena released a statement seeking to put distance between former President Clinton and his close friend that was accused of sex trafficking underage girls
The statement read:
President Clinton knows nothing about the terrible crimes Jeffrey Epstein pleaded guilty to in Florida some years ago or those with which he has been recently charged in New York.
In 2002 and 2003, President Clinton took a total of four trips on Jeffrey Epstein's airplane: one to Europe, one to Asia, and two to Africa, which included stops in connection with the work of the Clinton Foundation. Staff, supporters of the Foundation, and his Secret Service detail traveled on every leg of every trip.
He had one meeting with Epstein in his Harlem office in 2002, and around the same time made one brief visit to Epstein's New York apartment with a staff member and his security detail.
He's not spoken to Epstein in well over a decade, and has never been to Little St. James Island, Epstein's ranch in New Mexico, or his residence in Florida.
This was classic Clinton hair-splitting to try and weasel out of a scandal.
Flight records showed Clinton took 26 trips on Epstein's private plane –which was known as the "Lolita Express."
Clinton's team tried to minimize that travel by claiming Clinton only took four trips aboard the plane.
But under pressure, his office relented and admitted there were multiple legs to those journeys, which is why records showed 26 flights.
To make matters worse, Clinton ditched his secret service detail for five of those trips aboard the "Lolita Express."
And now many Americans are wondering why Clinton tried to hide his travels from his official protection detail and lie about how many times he traveled with Epstein.
