President Joe Biden claimed on Tuesday that he and his administration were doing “everything” they could to stem the flow of fentanyl into and throughout the United States, but critics did not appear to be buying it.
Biden’s comments came just days after his meeting in San Francisco with Chinese leader Xi Jinping — during which Biden said the two had come to a consensus about stopping the fentanyl that has been coming into the United States from China.
“Deaths from fentanyl are an American tragedy that requires global action. I’m committed to doing everything I can to control this crisis – from expanding prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery, to working with Chinese, Mexican, and Canadian partners to tackle this,” he said in a post to X.
