A Boston-based appeals court upheld a lower court’s injunction against President Donald Trump’s March executive order (EO) on mail-in voting.

In the 2-1 decision on Saturday, the 1st U.S. Circuit of Appeals stayed the district court’s June order, which found certain aspects of Trump’s EO to be unconstitutional.

The EO directed the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to compile a list of United States citizens eligible to vote in a state and provide it to that state’s chief election official.

It also instructed the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) to implement new standards regarding mail-in ballots, and directed the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate state and local election officials for issuing federal ballots to voters deemed ineligible.
