Barack Obama just 'can't help himself.
The former President is always seeking to exploit tragedy for political gain.
But this wounded Navy Seal shut down Barack Obama by asking one question.
Barack Obama spoke at the VTEX Day Conference in Sao Palo, Brazil.
The former 'President's launched into a blizzard of lies about U.S. gun laws in reaction to the tragic shooting in Virginia Beach where disgruntled government employee – who was a registered Democrat – murdered 11 innocents and wounded three others.
Obama railed about Americans exercising their Second Amendment rights, and falsely claimed anyone can purchase a machine gun.
"Some of you may be aware, our gun laws in the United States 'don't make much sense. Anybody can buy any weapon, any time without much, if any, regulation," Obama lied. "They buy it over the internet. They can buy machine guns.""
Texas Congressman Dan Crenshaw – who served as a Navy Seal in Afghanistan and lost an eye in an explosion – asked one question that shut Obama down.
"Why is Obama so boldly lying about US gun laws? No, not anyone can buy a ""machine gun"" anytime. I notice, over and over, that left-wing politicians have to lie about the premise of an issue to bolster their case for government intervention. It poisons public debate,"" Crenshaw tweeted.
Crenshaw was telling the truth.
The United States government banned fully automatic machine guns with the 1934 National Firearms Act.
In 1986 the government passed a new law making the sale of machine guns legal provided they were mad before 1986.
However, to obtain one a firearms owner has to undergo background checks, fingerprinting, send photos to the government, register the weapon with the
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives who must approve the sale, and pay taxes specific to the firearm.
In addition, you cannot just purchase a machine gun from any gun deal.
If you want to own a machine gun, you must obtain the firearm from a dealer with a Federal Firearms license who has gone through a unique process and paid the necessary fees to sell automatic weapons.
Finally, the cost of a machine gun routinely runs in the 10,000 to 20,000 dollar range.
Because of the difficulty in obtaining an automatic weapon, there are fewer than 500,000 in circulation.
In comparison, there are 10 to 20 times that number of AR-15 – the so-called ""assault"" rifle the gun grabbers would love to ban.
By any measure, Obama was lying in his attack on U.S. gun laws.
But the gun grabbers know they can never win an argument over gun control on facts or the Constitution.
Their primary weapons in this debate are lies and emotional blackmail.
